** Update** Brush Fire - Tecate & Potrero
This is the San Diego County Sheriff's Department with an emergency message and evacuation information on Sunday, June 19th.
There is a brush fire burning near the border in Tecate and Potrero. At last check, CAL FIRE says the fire has grown to 1,500 acres since it started at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 19th on State Route 94 and Highway 188 on steep terrain. There is concern this fire may spread to your home, so you are being advised to evacuate.
The American Red Cross has opened up a overnight shelter with food, water and other resources for evacuated residents at:
Campo Elementary School
1654 Buckman Springs Road, Campo
For help with large animal evacuations, contact County Animal Services at (619) 236-2341.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has closed State Route 94 from Highway 188 to Potrero Valley Road.
