Suspect wanted for making criminal threats and shooting at a vehicle -taken into custody after a barricade situation.

On June 3, 2016 Frank Chavez, 28 years of age and a resident of Los Angeles was arrested for a domestic violence incident that took place in the City of Montebello - he posted bond and was released pending a court appearance.
On June 8, 2016 Mr. Chavez returned to the victim’s residence in an attempt to retrieve some personal items. Mr. Chavez became angry at which point it is alleged that he made threatening statements, brandished a firearm and shot the victims vehicle several times before fleeing the area.
As a result of the second incident an arrest warrant was obtained for the suspect and Montebello Police Detectives actively searched for him. Information was developed that he was staying at a residence in Los Angeles.
On June 17, 2016 at approximately 7:00 A.M, Montebello Police Detectives and SRT members served a search and arrest warrant at a residence on the 100 Block of Carmelita Street in the City of Los Angeles. Montebello Personnel made contact with the suspect however he barricaded himself in a rear dwelling. Once the suspect barricaded himself, Montebello Police personnel contained the residence.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) and Crisis Negotiation Team responded and assumed tactical control of the incident. After several hours of negotiations, the suspect surrendered without incident.
Mr. Chavez was taken into custody by Montebello Detectives and transported to the MPD jail for booking and housing. He will remain in custody pending a court appearance.
