The Moraga Police Department sends Nixle alerts and safety information out to our residents so everyone has information about crimes, incidents and how to keep you and your family safe. Sometimes, this can give the illusion that Moraga is crime-ridden...it is not! While we do suffer crime in our town, Moraga is one of the safest communities in California. This information is sent out to you to keep you aware and help keep Moraga safe.

We also want to share the most recent crime statistics from the first 5 months of 2016. You will note that burglaries are down nearly 61% and thefts are down over 20% in the 1st 5 months of 2016 when compared to 2015.

While we can’t be sure, we believe that much of the reduction in crime is due to many of you being diligent in securing your property, homes and vehicles and reporting suspicious activity. Often times, burglars and thieves will surveil a neighborhood, looking for a target to steal or burglarize. They hope to do this undetected – when you see them and report them, you have foiled their plan and potentially prevented a crime.

We are fortunate to be part of a very safe community. Please help us keep Moraga safe by doing the following:
• Please secure your vehicles, homes and property. By doing this, you prevent crimes of opportunity.
• Use alarm and video surveillance systems to safeguard your home.
• Report suspicious activity, persons and vehicles in your neighborhood to the Moraga Police.
