All outside water restrictions remain in place, for those using City of Rifle water.

Water Restriction Update
06-08-16 (2:00PM)
Water restrictions allowing household use only remain in effect for Rifle residents. City leaders have developed a strategy to get the city back to full water capacity. The strategy involves pumping water from a previously used water source, in order to prepare the main pumps for permanent full city usage again. The city has engineers and city public works staff at both pumping locations, working around the clock, to restore order and predictability to the water system.

City leaders ask residents to assist in a smooth and fast process of repairs by following the restrictions as advised, and avoiding all outside use of water, as this accounts for up to 60 percent of the water used from the city water system on a daily basis. The impact of citizens avoiding outdoor water usage has a tremendous impact on the outcome of the plan being implemented. The city is committed to doing everything possible to maintain uses related to indoor household usage, sanitation, fire protection and some business usage. We will send out updated information on a daily basis.

The best way to receive updated information is through the city website at You can also sign up for notifications from the Central Communications Emergency notification system at, the city’s local “NIXLE” notification system at, and the Rifle Police Department Facebook page.
