El Cerrito Police Department presents “Barks and Bells”

The El Cerrito Police Department is pleased to present “Barks and Bells,” a residential burglary prevention exposition. The “Barks” portion of the event will feature dog adoptions conducted by Contra Costa Animal Services and Fur Ever Animal Rescue. Most adult dogs from animal shelters are ready to begin providing home defense right away and burglars tend to avoid homes with dogs. There will also be businesses to support dog ownership such as PetCo and Abbey Pet Hospital. The “bells” portion of the expo will be feature target hardening services. Home Security companies ADT and Bay Alarm and locksmiths, Rex’s Keys and Fosters Brothers locksmiths will have booths providing information and services.

The El Cerrito Police Department will host a booth providing information on home security information and services. The El Cerrito Police Explorer Post will also be hosting a kid’s event where children will be able to lift their own fingerprints using real CSI equipment. The children will also get to keep the fingerprint cards as a souvenir. They will also be handing out child ID kits. The El Cerrito Police Explorers are conducting a fundraiser to raise money to participate in an annual statewide competition by selling hot dogs/chips/soda.

“Barks and Bells” will take place on Saturday, June 25th, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the El Cerrito Community Center, located at 7007 Moeser Lane in El Cerrito. Please contact Officer Christopher Purdy at [email protected] with any questions.
