A candlelight vigil has been organized by family and friends of Angel Zevallos, the boy who died as a result of yesterday’s tragic accident on Royal Ave. in Simi Valley.

The vigil will be held along Royal Ave. tonight beginning around 8 PM. Organizers plan to have attendees park in the west lot of Royal High School (1402 Royal Ave.) and walk along the south sidewalk of Royal Ave. to Madera Elementary (250 Royal Ave.)

To assist those attending the vigil as they mourn Angel’s passing, officers from the Simi Valley Police Department will alter the traffic lights along Royal Ave., between Thompson Ln. (1600 blk.) and Vaquero Dr. (200 blk.) by placing them in the red flashing mode beginning at 7 PM.

Even though traffic on Royal Ave. on a Friday night at 8 PM is not typically heavy, motorists can expect some delays in the area as they negotiate the zone between the major cross streets of Madera Rd. and Erringer Rd. Motorists seeking an alternate route through the area should use Los Angeles Ave. to the north to travel east and west between Madera Rd. and Erringer Rd., or Fitzgerald Rd. to the south to travel between First St. and Erringer Rd.

The Simi Valley Police Department family will be thinking of Angel’s family, friends and the whole community as they begin to heal in the aftermath of Angel’s passing.
