“Police Blotter” Highlights – Ending May 22nd, 2016

ROBBERIES
On Thursday, May 19th, around 5:40 p.m., Ofc. Persinger was dispatched to the Shell gas station on Mission Blvd. on the report of a robbery. After a verbal altercation, the suspect punched the cashier and took several items without paying. The suspect has been identified, and the case has been forwarded to the D.A.’s office for prosecution.

On Friday, May 20th, around 10 p.m., Police Ofc. Trainee Bellotti and Ofc. Seto were dispatched to the 1900 block of Hartnell St. on the report of a robbery. Two suspects approached the victim as she was getting out of her car and demanded all her possessions. The victim gave them her cell phone, keys and a shopping bag, and then the suspects fled in an older model silver, two-door vehicle (possibly a Honda) toward Alvarado-Niles. The first suspect was described as a black male, approximately 18-20 years old, 6’0” and 150-170 lbs. The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 18-20 years old, 6’0” and 150-170 lbs.

On Sunday, May 22nd, around 8 p.m., Ofc. Alberto responded to the Shell gas station on Decoto Rd. on the report of a robbery. A suspect approached two victims, pointed a pistol at their heads and demanded money. The victims gave him some cash, and he fled on a blue and white dirt bike. The suspect was described as a white male, 5’10” and 170 lbs., wearing a motorcycle helmet.

WEEK IN REVIEW

Grand Theft:
On Thursday, May 19th, around 6:30 p.m., the victim’s unlocked bike was stolen from in front of a business on Alvarado Blvd. A witness saw the theft occur, and described the suspect as a black male with shoulder-length braided black hair.

Weapons Possession:
On Thursday, May 19th, around 7:50 p.m., Police Ofc. Trainee Bellotti and Ofc. Seto conducted a probation search on a subject. They located an illegal leaded sap in his backpack. James Delacruz, a 26-year-old Union City resident, was arrested.

BURGLARIES AND CAR THEFTS

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, May 16th through Sunday, May 22nd, there were six reported residential burglaries:
• 3800 block of Horner St.: Occurred between Thursday, May 12th at 3 p.m., and Monday, May 16th at 11 a.m. The door to the garage was pried open, and the loss included lawnmowers, a telescope and boxes of miscellaneous ammunition.
• 3500 block of Oyster Ct.: Occurred on Tuesday, May 17th, between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. A window was smashed, and the loss included electronics.
• 32700 block of Regents Blvd.: Occurred between Wednesday, May 4th at 6:30 a.m., and Friday, May 20th at 12 p.m. A side window was smashed; the loss is unknown at this time.
• 4400 block of Alamo Ct.: Occurred between Saturday, May 21st at 10:30 p.m., and Sunday, May 22nd at 6 a.m. Entry was made via unlocked doors to the residence and the garage. The loss included a vehicle, keys, wallet and electronics.
• 4400 block of Alamo Ct.: Occurred on Sunday, May 22nd, between 1 a.m. and 6:50 a.m. Entry was made via an unlocked door into the garage. The loss included a vehicle and a purse.
• 2400 block of Heritage Way: Occurred on Sunday, May 22nd, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The rear sliding glass door was smashed, and the loss included jewelry.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, May 16th through Sunday, May 22nd, there were three reported commercial burglaries:
• 31600 block of Alvarado Blvd.: Occurred between Sunday, May 15th at 12 p.m., and Monday, May 16th at 6:30 a.m. Unknown entry; various desk drawers were pried open. The loss included keys, cash and electronics.
• 29300 block of Union City Blvd.: Occurred between Monday, May 16th at 10 p.m., and Tuesday, May 17th at 9 a.m. The front door was pried, and the loss included a safe, copper wiring and tools.
• 32000 block of Alvarado Blvd.: Occurred on Thursday, May 19th, around 5:10 a.m. A glass door was smashed, and the loss included a safe.

AUTO BURGLARIES AND VEHICLE THEFTS
From Monday, May 16th through Sunday, May 22nd, there were three reported auto burglaries and one attempt. Two of the burglaries targeted backpacks and briefcases that were left in plain view on the seats or floorboards.

From Monday, May 16th through Sunday, May 22nd, there were six reported vehicle thefts. As of the time of this report, three of the vehicles have been recovered.
