Advisory

Two residential burglaries have occurred this week in Moraga - please take precautions and avoid being a victim

Two Moraga homes were burglarized this week, as well as one in Lafayette. In all three cases, the burglars entered the home during the day via an unlocked window or rear door. Please consider the following to prevent your home from being burglarized and from you being a victim:

* When leaving, please lock all of your doors and windows.
* Lock your side gates when you are away to reduce access to your back yard.
* Keep a record of the serial numbers of your electronics and other valuable items. Take clear photos or videos of the items to provide identifying information if they are stolen.
* Consider installing and using an alarm system.
* Consider installing a video surveillance system to record activity around your home.
* If you have a safe in your home, make sure that it is secured to a wall or the floor to prevent easy removal.
* If you are going to be away for an extended period of time, please request a Vacation House Check from the Moraga Police Department.

The Lafayette Police Department has a created a burglary prevention video that can be accessed from their website. It is filled with valuable information that can help you make your home safer. The link to the website is: http://www.ci.lafayette.ca.us/city-hall/city-departments/police.

As always, please contact the Moraga Police Department at 925-888-7055 with any questions or concerns. Report incidents to Dispatch at 925-284-5010.
