Fight call Town of Windsor

On May 24, 2016, at about 3:25 p.m., officers from the Windsor Police Department were dispatched to a report of a large fight in the area of Shira Street and Cornell Street. The reporting party believed one of the persons involved had been struck with a baseball bat and was possibly injured.

When officers arrived in the area they located a truck with extensive damage, including a smashed windshield, and a juvenile male who was possibly involved with the fight. Officers learned that several other involved parties had left on foot and in a vehicle prior to their arrival.

Subsequent to the initial call, another witness called in to report they were following a vehicle containing suspects from the fight. The witness followed the vehicle until it could be stopped on Airport Boulevard and Fulton Road by Windsor PD officers and deputies from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers discovered 4 subjects in the vehicle, including one who had an injury to his neck. Officers detained the subjects, with the exception of the injured person, who was transported to the hospital.

A third phone call was received by dispatch from a person living on Dartmouth Way, a short distance from the incident. The caller reported a person suffering from an injury to his forearm had showed up at the residence and requested assistance.

Officers responded to the residence and found a juvenile male suffering from an injury to his forearm. The juvenile was transported to the hospital for treatment. Two others involved with the incident were located at the residence and detained.

The injuries to the victims do not appear to be life threatening. Detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit responded to investigate the incident. Detectives are working to establish how the incident started, any weapons that may have been involved, and the motive.

Anyone with information is asked to please contact Detective Jeff Toney at the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office at 707-565-2185.
