On May 21^st, 2016, the Cuyama Buckhorn restaurant located at 4923 Primero Street in New Cuyama hosted an event which was attended by approximately 1500 people.  Due to the fact the crowd was expected to draw participants from several outlaw motorcycle gangs, detectives with the Sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau assisted Sheriff Deputies with monitoring the gathering to ensure the safety of all who attended.

During the course of the event, Sheriff’s detectives contacted and arrested four people for narcotics and weapons violations.  32-year-old Robert Miller of Bakersfield was arrested for possession of anabolic steroids for sales and for driving a motorcycle on a suspended license.  Miller was booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail on $30,000 bail and his motorcycle was impounded by the Sheriff’s Office for 30 days.  Sheriff’s detectives are conducting an additional investigation to determine whether Miller was selling the narcotics in association with, the benefit of, or furtherance of a criminal street gang. 

During a traffic enforcement stop, detectives also contacted 24-year-old Oscar Romero, 44-year-old Thomas Trees and 40-year-old Russell Gillette, all from Bakersfield. Detectives discovered Romero and Trees were in possession of a loaded, concealed 9 mm firearm and a .25 caliber firearm in a vehicle.  Both Romero and Trees were issued citations for the violations and released from the scene. 

Detectives discovered Gillette had an active warrant issued for his arrest in San Luis Obispo County.  Gillette was arrested and was booked at the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
