OSBI Investigates Two Weekend Deaths at Ok Co. Jail
Friday night, the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI agents investigate an inmate death at the county jail. A jailer performing sight checks on inmates found Joseph Carter Wilson (11/29/1985) hanging from the cell he occupied alone. Wilson was booked into jail on 10/5/2015for numerous felony complaints including assault & battery with a dangerous weapon, indecent exposure, assault & battery on police officers, and plan to perform act of violence involving serious bodily injury. Wilson was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Sunday evening, the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI investigate another death at the county jail. At approximately 6:30 p.m., a jailer found inmate Cody Joe McDonald (d.o.b. 3/31/1988) hanging inside the cell he also occupied alone. McDonald was transported to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. McDonald was booked into the jail on 5/11/2016 by Oklahoma City police officers on eight felony complaints which included drugs and weapons violations.
The medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy on both inmates to make an official ruling on the cause and manner of these deaths.
