Press Release: Burglary Arrest

ACCUSED: David Shank, age 30 from the Township of Ocean, NJ
NARRATIVE:
On May 19, 2016 police responded to 2005 State Highway 35 (Family Dollar) for a shoplifting incident. The accused shoplifter, David Shank, was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and transported to the station for booking. He was processed and released on a criminal complaint pending a future court appearance.
Shortly after being released from police custody Detective’s Michael Melody and Jesse Orbach spotted Shank walking along Deal Road. Moments after observing him they noticed Shank run up to a residence. Both Detectives exited their vehicle and located Shank in the rear of the home actively attempting to gain entry. He was once again taken into custody without incident and transported to the station for processing. At the station police located a prescription pill bottle containing Prescription Legend Drugs with (12) Xanax pills that was concealed on his person.
Shank was charged with Attempted Burglary, Criminal Mischief and Possession of Prescription Legend Drugs. Municipal Court Judge Louis Garippo Jr. set bail at $20,000.00 with no 10% option and was subsequently transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
