Knightstown Man Arrested for Meth Lab In Vehicle

Henry County – A Knightstown man was arrested last evening in culmination of an ongoing investigation into the manufacture of Methamphetamine. Members of the Pendleton District Meth Suppression Team had obtained a search warrant for a home at 328 E. Main St. in Knightstown, as part of the ongoing investigation,

Around 7:30 p.m. yesterday, as officers moved in on the residence, Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy Landon Dean, who was assisting with the investigation, observed the suspect, Michael E. Cunningham, age 38, leave in a black Dodge pickup. When the deputy attempted to stop Cunningham, he took off at a high rate of speed, eventually stopping in the 8000 block of So. CR 425 W.

When officers removed Cunningham from his truck, an active one pot Meth lab fell out on the ground next to Cunningham. A search of the truck found a second one pot lab and chemicals used to manufacture Meth. A search of the Knightstown property also turned up a lab and chemicals used in the manufacture of Methamphetamine.

Cunningham, who was also wanted out of Hancock County on a Probation Violation Warrant for Domestic Battery, is being charged by the Meth Suppression Team with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Level 4 Felony, and Possession of Meth, Possession of Precursors and Maintaining a Common Nuisance, all three Level 6 Felony charges. He is also being charged with OWI “A” Misdemeanor.

In addition Henry County Sheriff’s Department charged Cunningham with Resisting Law Enforcement, Level 6 Felony. The Pendleton District Meth Suppression Team was assisted in their investigation by Pendleton District Troopers, Henry County Prosecutor Joe Bergacs, Henry County Sherriff’s Department, Henry County Drug Task Force, and Henry County DCS.
