CRIME: 664/187 PC - Attempt Murder
VICTIM: Rogelio Cayetano, 24 year old, Pomona Resident
SUSPECT: 17 year old Juvenile
NARRATIVE: On 5/18/16, at approx. 12:57 PM, Pomona Police Department received a call of a victim of a stabbing at Tony Cerda Park in the City of Pomona, Ca. Patrol officers arrived on scene where they found a victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Witnesses stated the suspect fled on foot. LA County Fire Department arrived on scene to treat and transport the victim to a local hospital. The victim was listed in critical condition.
Shortly after, Pomona Police Department Homicide Detectives and members of the Major Crimes Task Force conducted a follow-up investigation. During their follow-up investigation, Major Crimes Task Force officers were in the area of Ralph Welch Park in the City of Pomona when they observed the suspect loitering in the park. Officers were able to take the suspect into custody without incident.
The investigation revealed the suspect and the victim have known each other for several months and were involved in a physical altercation prior to the stabbing.
