The San Angelo Police Department is warning citizens about scammers who were victimizing residents today in a common “Pigeon Drop” scam.
The scammers were reportedly targeting men who were exiting Walmart. The victims were approached by a black male who spoke with a foreign accent. The male subject asked for directions to Walgreens, then offered to pay for a ride to the store. At some point, the scammer pointed out another man, who unbeknownst to the victim, was a second scammer. A third man picked up the scammers at another location. This victim was scammed out of several hundred dollars.
A second scam attempt was made at another Walmart but the citizen did not fall for it.
The con artists and their vehicle were captured on surveillance video.
Vehicle: early 2000 model blue Chevrolet Trailblazer
Suspects:
1) Black male, mid 20’s-early 30’s, casual clothes.
2) Black male, mid 20’s-early 30’s wearing a tie, slacks, and possibly a lab coat.
3) Black male (driver)
The SAPD is asking citizens who encounter these scammers to call police dispatch at 325-657-4315.
