Police seeking the public's assistance with early morning hit & run collision resulting in injuries to a pedestrian.

Early morning hit and run collision causes major injuries to a 64 year old pedestrian.  Police are seeking the public’s assistance to locate the driver.

On Thursday May 19, 2016, between 5:30 a.m. and 5:45 a.m., a hit and run injury collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian, occurred at the intersection of Fremont Blvd and Central Ave. 
 
The victim, a 64 year old male (Fremont resident), was walking to the bus stop on his way to work.  As the victim was crossing east on the north side of the intersection, he was struck by a vehicle turning left onto Fremont Blvd., from Central Ave. The driver did not stop or make any attempt to contact the victim after the collision.  The victim was lawfully within the crosswalk at the time of the accident.  He suffered a major head injury as a result of being hit by the vehicle.  The victim was transported to a local hospital via ambulance and is currently in stable condition.  
 
The suspect vehicle was described as an older model maroon or burgundy, import make passenger vehicle.  The vehicle likely sustained minor damage to the left front corner.  The suspect driver was described as possibly being a Hispanic male, 25 – 30 years old.
