Newark Recognizes National Police Week

National Police Week Honors Law Enforcement Agents
Police officers put their life on the line every day as they work to keep our neighborhoods and communities safe. On average, one law enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty somewhere in the United States every 61 hours. Since the first known line-of-duty death in 1791, more than 20,000 U.S. law enforcement officers have made the ultimate sacrifice.
National Police Week, is a time when we honor the memory of American Law Enforcement Officers who gave their lives in service to the public. President John F. Kennedy Proclaimed May 15 to be National Peace Officers Memorial Day.
