Two arrested after stolen $5500 lawn mower found on their property
QUINCY, Wash. (17MAY2016) – Two people are in jail and a citizen’s $5500 zero-turn John Deere mower was recovered after being stolen Monday morning near Quincy.
Grant County deputies served a search warrant at 8524 State Route 281 North just south of the Quincy city limits. The warrant was the result of an investigation of a zero-turn lawn mower which was stolen from a home about six miles from Quincy.
The mower’s owner had a suspicion Daniel Amaya, 42 of Quincy, may have been involved in the theft. The mower’s owner went to Amaya’s property, found mower tracks in the dirt and then found the mower secreted under a camouflage cover.
Deputies responded, along with K-9 Grizzly. Grizzly barked a few times and coaxed Amaya out of the house.
Amaya was jailed for investigation of
First degree possession of stolen property
Outstanding warrant for third degree theft
Outstanding warrant for possession of methamphetamine
Amanda Alcala, 36, of Quincy was also in the home. She came out but was combative with deputies. She was jailed for investigation of
Third degree assault
Resisting arrest
Possession of methamphetamine
Obstructing a law enforcement officer
“The person whose mower was stolen did a great job of letting us know what had happened and where his mower was, allowing us to take action and arrest two people in this case,” said Sheriff Tom Jones.
