Update - Two 16 year olds arrested for auto-theft and evading police

On May 16th, 2016 at approximately 1250 PM, PSPD received calls about two suspicious teenagers lingering around a vehicle in the parking lot of Panda Express in the 400 block of S Sunrise Way. The teens were seen  entering the vehicle and drove away.

PSPD officers checked the area and immediately located the vehicle at Ramon Rd. and Ave. Caballeros. The officers discovered the vehicle was stolen and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The vehicle sped away with two occupants attempting to evade PSPD officers. The vehicle pulled into the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 400 block of Calle El Segundo and both occupants fled on foot.

PSPD officers established a perimeter and received help from the CHP Air Unit. Officers were eventually directed to an apartment inside the complex where they found both occupants hiding.

Both occupants are 16 years old and will not be identified because of their ages.

A third person,  inside the residence, unrelated to the incident, attempted to hide from officers. When officers made contact with the individual identified as Gladimiro Moreno DOB 5/21/1995 of Palm Springs, he attempted to lie about his name. Officers eventually arrested Moreno for delaying police officers, a probation violation and three active misdemeanor warrants.

The teenage suspects will be booked into the Juvenile Hall facility in Indio and  Moreno will be booked into the Larry D Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
