The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
May 13, 2016
1141 Hours: NPD Officers responded to the Residence Inn, located at 35466 Dumbarton Court, regarding a subject causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, a 28 year old male of Newark was contacted and found to have been harassing guests and refusing to leave. He was placed under citizen's arrest for trespassing. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
1148 Hours: Officer Horst conducted a traffic stop on a reckless driver on Cedar Boulevard near Newark Boulevard. The driver, a 40 year old male of San Jose, was found to have a suspended license. The driver was arrested and later cite released at the scene for 23101(a) CVC (reckless driving), 14601.1(a) CVC (suspended license) and 16028(a) CVC (no proof of insurance). The vehicle was towed.
2002 Hours: Officer Warren contacted a 25 year old male of Oakland at the Twilight Zone, located at 5970 Mowry Ave. The male had a warrant for his arrest out of Mariposa County. He was issued a citation and released at the scene.
0341Hours: Officer Warren conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 23 year old male of Newark for carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle. The male was booked at Fremont Jail.

2132 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated a property damage collision on Harlon Ct where the driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol, had no license, and no insurance. A 30 year old female of Castro Valley was issued a citation and released from NPD.
2249 Hours: Officer Rodgers arrested a 40 year old male of Newark for possession of drug paraphernalia, after contacting him in the alley way to the rear of O’Sullivan’s bar.
2232 Hours: Officer Rodgers arrested a 37 year old male for being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was booked at Fremont PD Jail.
May 15, 2016
0938 Hours: Officer Losier contacted a 43 year old male of Newark during a traffic stop and discovered several Vicodin pills wrapped up in a small piece of a plastic bag. The male admitted he did not a prescription for the pills. He was cited and released for possession of narcotics.
1345 Hours: Officers responded to a residence in the 37100 block of Sycamore Street, regarding a disturbance. A 39 year old male of Newark was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
1454 Hours: Officer Mapes arrested a 43 year old male of Newark for a warrant. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
