On May 15th at 2:16 AM APD officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart at 4215 Canyon Drive on two disorderly subjects inside of the store. Employees told officers that a white male and a Hispanic male were in the store throwing items onto the floor. They advised that one of the suspects had a gun in the waist band of his pants. Jonathan Landon Nelson WM 29 and Johnathan Michael Martinez HM 24 were in the electronics department throwing items on the ground and being disorderly. Officers could see that Nelson had a handgun in the waist band of his pants. Nelson and Martinez were both detained and found to be intoxicated. Nelson was also found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Martinez had a local municipal warrant. Nelson did not have a license to carry a firearm. He told officers that he thought he could open carry a firearm, because he had heard about it on the news. Nelson was booked into the Randall County Jail for Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm, Possession of Marijuana under two ounces, and Public Intoxication. Martinez was booked at the Randall County Jail for Public Intoxication and the one local municipal warrant.
