Deputies are asking for the public's assistance in locating Jose Ricardo Medina wanted for fighting roosters

INCIDENT: Penal Code Sections 597i and 597j, Animal Cruelty
LOCATION: 1900 Block of Calaveras Road, Pinon Hills
SUSPECT: Jose Ricardo Medina, 58, resident of Pinon Hills
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, May 12, 2016, detectives and deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station served a search warrant at the Calaveras Road address for evidence of a fighting bird operation. The department's Rural Crime Task Force gathered information on the large plywood bird compound and found the roosters were housed in separate cages and others were tethered to the ground. The Rural Crime Task Force coordinated with San Bernardino County Animal Control officers to assist with the birds. In all, 105 fighting roosters were seized, along with evidence of bird fighting implements and awards for the fighting of birds.
The suspect was not at home during the service of the search warrant and is still outstanding.
