The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
May 12th.
0824 Hours: CSO Verandes investigated the theft of car rims and tires on the 5400 block of Lafayette Avenue.
1319 Hours: Officer Horst responded to the 6200 block of Bellhaven Avenue and arrested a 45 year old Newark Male for a restraining order violation. The suspect was booked at the Santa Rita Jail.
1445 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated a shoplifting incident at JC Penny’s. A 62 year old San Jose male was arrested and released with a citation.
1551 Hours: Officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision on Cedar Boulevard near Birch Street. The collision is under investigation.
1821 Hours: CSO Parks responded to a collision on Thornton Avenue at Cherry Street. A 43 year old male from Visalia was arrested for driving without a driver’s license. The suspect was booked at the Fremont Jail and his car was towed from the scene.
0157 Hours: Officers responded to a silent hold up alarm at 7-11 South, 39620 Cedar Blvd. Two suspects entered the store, assaulted the clerk and took an unknown number of lottery tickets before fleeing on foot. Officer Mavrakis is investigating.
