LIFE SENTENCE IN 2004 COLD CASE

On Friday, May 13, 2016, Vith “Chino” Loch was sentenced to Life in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and a $10,000 fine for the murder of Soeuth “Mario” Nay.

The Nay murder had remained unsolved for a decade prior to being reopened and investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit.

The sentence was handed down, by jury, in the 209th Harris County Criminal District Court. Loch was 33 years old when he murdered 28 year-old Nay. Soeuth Nay left behind a son and a large extended family.

On August 7th, 2004, Vith Loch was seen arguing with Soeuth Nay, and left together in Loch’s truck from 7367 Kingsway. Nay was never seen alive after that. His decomposed body was located at 1000 Northville on August 29th, 2004.

Nay had been shot in the head and his body dumped in a bayou behind the Pick-A-Parts salvage yard. Vith Loch was identified as a suspect and was arrested in Florida after a police chase which resulted in multiple felony charges.

Loch was interviewed by HCSO investigators at the time but there was not enough evidence to charge him with Nay’s murder. All leads were exhausted during the original investigation and the case went cold.

In November, 2014, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit took another look at the case and conducted follow-up investigation on the unsolved homicide. Additional details of the murder and new witnesses were developed. Loch was charged with murder on March 30th, 2015. He was arrested and eventually confessed to investigators.

Loch has history of aggravated assault and other offenses. Investigators also learned of an Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child committed by Loch and he was charged with this offense as well.
