ISP Troopers & K9 assisting Worthington Police Results in Arrest of Greene County Man on Several Felony Drug Charges

Worthington (Greene County) - Earlier this morning, Worthington Town Marshall Randy Raney requested Troopers with the Indiana State Police to assist him with a narcotics investigation.   During the investigation a traffic stop was conducted on Eric D. Word, 35 of Switz City, IN who was operating a red Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.  During the course of the traffic stop, Trooper Klun deployed his Narcotics K9 “Loki” who gave a positive indication for the odor of a controlled substance inside of the vehicle.

Discovered inside the truck were numerous items of drug paraphernalia, marijuana, LSD, methamphetamine and items indicating the distribution of narcotics.  Word was also discovered to be in possession of a loaded firearm during the traffic stop.

Word was incarcerated in the Greene County Jail on the following charges;

Dealing Methamphetamine while in Possession of a Firearm – Level 4 Felony

Possession of Methamphetamine while in Possession of a Firearm – Level 5 Felony

Possession of a Controlled Substance while in Possession of a Firearm – Level 6 Felony

Possession of Marijuana – B-Misdemeanor

Possession of Paraphernalia – C-Misdemeanor

Units assisting were Indiana State Police Troopers Caleb Garvin and Nicholas Bartalone along with Worthington Police Officer Russell Walls.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
