Wednesday afternoon, the Sayre Police Department requested OSBI assist with a homicide investigation at 1505 N. 3rd Street. There, Darren Drake, 34, had been shot by the home owner, Waylon Wisdom. Drake went to Wisdom’s home to retrieve an item allegedly stolen by Wisdom. The two struggled over a gun, Drake ran from the situation, and Wisdom shot Drake in the back. Drake was taken to the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City where he died. After an interview with Wisdom (d.o.b. 5/22/1993), OSBI agents arrested him on a complaint of first degree murder. Drake and Wisdom did not know each other. Both are from Sayre.
