LIFE SENTENCE IN 12 YEAR OLD COLD CASE

On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, Allan Eugene, was sentenced to life in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for the murder of Richard Sepulveda.

The Sepulveda murder had remained unsolved for almost a decade prior to being reopened and investigated again by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit.

The sentence was handed down, by jury, in the 177th Harris County Criminal District Court. Eugene was 22 years old when he murdered 44 year Sepulveda.

Richard Sepulveda left behind a wife and three daughters.

On the evening of July 24, 2004, Richard Sepulveda went to the Mity Mart convenience store located at 6227 Highway 6 South.

Sepulveda got into a verbal altercation with Eugene over parking.

Sepulveda began to drive out of the parking lot when Eugene chased after him and shot him.

He managed to drive a short distance and crashed his vehicle at 14575 Presidio Square. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

All leads were exhausted during the original investigation and the case went cold.

On December 26, 2013, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit took another look at the case and conducted follow-up investigation on the unsolved homicide.

Additional details of the murder were developed. Physical evidence was identified and developed that linked Eugene to the murder.

Eugene was located and interviewed by investigators and confessed to killing Sepulveda.

Allan Eugene has a violent criminal history that involves three other shootings in Harris County, as well as narcotic, evading arrest and weapons offenses. Eugene is a self-admitted Bloods gang member.
