The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
May 3rd.
1451 Hours: Officers responded to the 37800 block of Birch Street on a report of possible drug dealing. Upon arriving at the residence officers contacted four people from Newark. Ultimately, a 54 year old male was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. A 50 year old female, a 49 year old female and a 31-year old male were arrested for possession of methamphetamine. All four were cited and released.
1747 Hours: During a probation search at the EZ-8 Motel, Officer Ackerman arrested a 39 year old male from Newark for possession of methamphetamine. The suspect was cited and released.
0122 Hours: Safeway employees placed a 29 year old Newark male under citizen’s arrest for petty theft. Officer Smith accepted the arrest and the suspect was booked at the Santa Rita Jail.
