The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

April 28th.

0714 Hours: Officer Heckman contacted and arrested 31 year old Newark male for possessing narcotics and controlled substances. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1537 Hours: Officer Heckman responded to NewPark Mall and arrested a 46 year old Fremont male for public intoxication and outstanding arrest warrants. The suspect was booked at the Santa Rita Jail.

2026 Hours: Officer Khairy responded to JC Penney on a report of two shoplifters in custody. A 22 year old and a 25 year old female, both from Fremont were arrested for petty theft. They were booked at Fremont Jail.

April 29th.

0726 Hours: Officer Heckman investigated a stolen vehicle from Cruise America located at 5623 John Muir Drive. A white Four Winds Majestic RV, Arizona Plates BLL9212 was stolen.

0951 Hours: Officer Knutson investigated a road rage incident where the subject pointed a handgun at the victim. The suspect vehicle was described as a black Nissan Altima 2013-2016. The suspect was wearing a security jacket with security patches. He was described as a white male adult in his 50s with salt and pepper hair, blue eyes and a military haircut. The investigation is ongoing.

2226 Hours: A CHP helicopter reported that two subjects on the 35400 block Cleremont Drive were pointing a laser pointer at their aircraft. A 40 year old Newark male and a 43 year old Newark female were contacted at the residence. A probation search was conducted and the female was cited for possession of a meth pipe and a small laser pointer was located. The laser pointing investigation will be sent to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office and the Federal Aviation Administration for prosecution.

April 30TH.

0543 Hours: Officer Musantry investigated a hit and run accident at the intersection of Mayhews Landing Road and Cherry Street.

0935 Hours: Officer Mapes spotted 33 year old Newark male with an active warrant walking on the 6100 block of Rockrose Drive. The suspect was cited and released with a new court date.

1135 Hours: Officer Losier arrested a 29 year old Newark male for being under the influence of a controlled substance. The suspect was booked at the Santa Rita Jail.

1420 Hours: Officer Nobbe investigated a residential burglary on the 37100 block of Cherry Street. A handgun and jewelry were reported stolen.

1823 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated a minor injury collision involving three vehicles that occurred on Cherry Street at Cotton Avenue. The injured person declined treatment.

1950 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated a theft of phones from the employee break room of Crazy 8 children clothing store at NewPark Mall. There are no suspects or leads at this time.

May 1st.

2139 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted 30 year old male from Tracy during a pedestrian stop on the 6600 block of Central Ave. The suspect was cited for a misdemeanor warrant.

2357 Hours: Officer Rodgers contacted a victim who reported that his 32 year old male roommate had pointed a pistol at him and told him to leave the residence on the 6800 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect who is on searchable parole had fled the residence before he could be contacted. Two methamphetamine pipes and a shoulder holster were located. The case will be sent to the District Attorney’s office for prosecution.

0316 Hours: During a security check of the Residence Inn parking lot at 35466 Dumbarton Ct, Officer Slavazza located a stolen Mazda 626 out of Sunnyvale. The victim responded to retrieve the vehicle.
