Learn best practices in disaster preparedness, first aid, search and rescue, and fire safety, at free Community Emergency Response Team Training (C.E.R.T.) lead by the City’s public safety staff. Open to residents ages 18 years and older, courses will take place on Friday, June 10, 2016 through Sunday, June 12, 2016 in Temple City Council Chambers, 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Training will be provided from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

C.E.R.T. training will include a series of interactive activities that cover broad emergency response skills including search and rescue techniques, medical triage and disaster psychology.

Each course is designed to educated residents on preparedness tactics, focusing on emergency preparedness and disaster psychology on June 10; medical operations, C.E.R.T. organization and terrorism on June 11; and fire suppression and search and rescue operations on June 12. The final course will end with an interactive simulation exercise where participants form mock disaster response teams and learn how to search for and rescue victims of major earthquakes and other crises.

Those who attend the classes will receive Community Emergency Response Team training certification.
