ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON
On Monday, April 18th, around 1 p.m., officers responded to an assault call that had occurred in the 4100 block of Polaris Ave. The victim said he was shot about 15 times with a paintball gun, causing injury to his head. The suspect was known to the victim, and this appears to be an isolated incident.
On Saturday, April 23rd, around 8 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Alvarado Blvd. and Dyer St. on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. The victim said he noticed a male subject vandalizing a speed limit sign. When the victim confronted him, the male pulled out a metal pipe and swung it at the victim several times. He fled the scene, but was located nearby. Jason Handy, a 36-year-old Union City resident, was arrested.

Vehicle Theft Arrest:
On Thursday, April 21st, around 12:05 a.m., Ofc. Cota and Ofc. Trainee Bellotti were patrolling the area of Dyer St. and Alvarado-Niles Rd. when they located a vehicle reported stolen out of Milpitas. The driver led police on a short pursuit, and then abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Chung Lee, a 38-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested for vehicle theft.
Indecent Exposure:
On Sunday, April 24th, around 7:15 p.m., Ofc. Parodi was dispatched to Begonia St. on a report of indecent exposure. Victims from two different residences said a known suspect exposed himself in front of their homes. Christopher Turner, a 42-year-old Union City resident, was arrested for indecent exposure.
BURGLARIES AND CAR THEFTS
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, April 18th through Sunday, April 24th, there were no reported residential burglaries.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, April 18th through Sunday, April 24th, there was one reported commercial burglary:
• 32600 block of Alvarado Bl.: Occurred on Saturday, April 23rd, around 6:30 a.m. The glass front door was smashed, and the loss included business cards.
AUTO BURGLARIES AND VEHICLE THEFTS
From Monday, April 18th through Sunday, April 24th, there were seven reported auto burglaries. The majority of them were in residential areas, which is a break from the norm. However, most of them still targeted purses and electronics that were left in plain view on the seats or floorboards.

From Monday, April 18th through Sunday, April 24th, there were four reported vehicle thefts. As of the time of this report, three of the vehicles have been recovered.
One of them was recovered shortly after it was stolen, and Karla Garcia, a 19-year-old Newark resident, was arrested for vehicle theft. A 15-year-old male and 14-year-old male, both of Union City, were also arrested and then released to their guardians with a Notice to Appear. Stolen property from an unrelated auto burglary was found inside the vehicle and in the possession of the 15-year-old. The victim of the auto burglary responded to UCPD and recovered his property.
