SUMMARY: On April 26, 2016, Sheriff’s Service Specialist, Gilbert Bracamontes, from the Victorville Police Department, spotted a 2000 Acura which had been reported stolen from a Victorville home earlier in the day. The Acura, occupied by a female passenger, later identified as Michelle Ola, was parked in front of a liquor store at Hook Boulevard and El Evado Road. As Bracamontes watched the vehicle and waited for deputies to arrive at the scene, a second suspect, later identified as Marvin Carroll, exited the liquor store and got into the vehicle.
Carroll, who was driving the Acura, exited the parking lot and headed west on Hook Boulevard. The suspect failed to yield to deputies, who were in marked patrol cars with their lights and sirens activated. The suspect ran several stop signs at speeds of up to 55 miles per hour. The approximate two mile long pursuit ended at Seneca Road and Diamond Road, when the suspect stopped the vehicle and both suspects surrendered without further incident.
Animal Control was called to the scene to take custody of a small dog that was in the Acura. It was discovered that Carroll is on felony probation and Ola has outstanding warrants. Both were arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
The owner of the Acura was contacted and picked up his vehicle at the scene.
