On April 25th at 5:32 PM APD officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of Concord on a disorderly subject with a weapon. A WF 33 told officers that she had been assaulted and held against her will by Stephen Lee Velasquez WM 25. The victim told officers that Velasquez had pointed a gun at her and held her in the house for several hours. Velasquez left the house and then came back and kicked open the back door and physically assaulted the victim. Friends of the victim were on scene when Velasquez came back and were able to stop the assault. Velasquez ran away before officers arrived. Officers located Velasquez a block down the street on Concord hiding in a back yard. Velasquez was crouched between a soft drink machine and a trash can. He had a chair pulled in front of him and would not come out. The officers could see that Velasquez had something in his hand, but could not make out the item. Velasquez told the officers that they were going to have to shoot him. Officers talked Velasquez out after several minutes and he was taken into custody. The item in his hand was found to be a cell phone. Velasquez was arrested for Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Assault on a family member by impeding breath or circulation, and unlawful restraint. Velasquez was booked into the Randall County Jail. The victim did not require medical attention.
