Sheriff Victor Hill's Truancy Unit Returns Nearly 800 Kids Back To School Safely!

The Truancy Unit was implemented by Sheriff Victor Hill in order to combat residential burglaries since a high percentage are done by juveniles cutting school. Since their existence, this unit has caught 785 kids cutting school and have either returned them to school, or their parents.

In addition to addressing crime issues, making sure kids are in school insures their safety. Studies have shown that most state inmates do not have a high school diploma. This proves that there is a huge correlation between education and crime. One of the finest crime fighting strategies we can have is to make sure our children are in school and not some where unsupervised. If you see any truants about in Clayton County during school hours, please contact us at 770-477-4479 so that we can send the Truancy unit out to investigate.

Here are the Truancy unit's stats:
Arrest: 240
Warrant Attempts: 1157
Traffic Citations: 64
Property Checks: 3420
Citizen Contacts: 9675
Juvenile Contacts: 879
Juveniles Returned to school: 785
