On the evening of April 14, 2016, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detective made a traffic stop of two males at 232nd Street and Vermont Avenue in the unincorporated area of Torrance. During the course of the traffic stop, the detective discovered burglary tools and over one hundred pieces of U.S. mail from an apartment complex located in the 800 block of East Victoria Street, Carson. Suspect Cesar Cortez, MH/29, and Suspect Darsy Perez, MH/28 were arrested for mail theft. Carson Station’s Detective Bureau is currently sorting through all of the evidence collected and searching for the victims. These suspects may be involved in other possible mail theft incidents in Carson and other surrounding cities.
