INCIDENT: Kidnapping/Assault with a Deadly Weapon

SUSPECT(S): Edward Poquette, 31 of Victorville

SUMMARY: On April 15, 2016, Edward Poquette, 31 of Victorville, was arrested after stealing a woman's car and driving approximately five blocks, with the woman on the hood of the car.

Deputies from the Victorville Police Station responded to a citizen's call Friday night claiming Poquette was at her residence and had stolen a gold Honda Accord, belonging to her daughter. The caller told dispatch that her daughter was on the hood of the car that the suspect had just stolen. She also advised the suspect had run into several mail boxes as he left the house.

The suspect drove several blocks before bailing out of the car in the area of Cobalt Road and Bear Valley Road, where he fled on foot into the desert. Sheriff's Aviation as well as Deputy Moyer and his K9 partner Ellie, from the Victor Valley Station, responded to the call to assist in the search for the suspect. Ellie tracked the suspects scent through several backyards in a residential neighborhood, where she located him hiding in an RV at a vacant residence.

The victim, a 31 year old Victorville woman, did not report any injuries from the incident. The suspect was taken into custody and booked on charges of kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned at Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
