OSBI Agents Investigate Comanche Co Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting
Before midnight Friday, the Comanche County Sheriff's Office received a call regarding a suicidal subject st 395 SW Whitetail, Cache. When officers arrived they determined David Swatsky, 52, had a gun and was threatening to shoot any law enforcement who came on his property. The deputies entered the home and found that Swatsky was hold up inside a bedroom. Eventually, officers talked him out of the bedroom, but he refused to put down a gun and was pointing it at officers. Deputies repeatedly requested Swatsky to put the gun down. He started to walk toward officers with the gun pointed in their direction when one deputy fired his weapon one time. Swatsky stopped breathing at the scene and officers and EMTs worked to revive him. He was eventually pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff's office immediately called OSBI agents to investigate the fatal shooting. No one else was injured. OSBI agents will provide the district attorney with a detailed report once the investigation is complete. The district attorney will determine if the shooting was justified. OSBI will not release the officer's name unless he is arrested or charged with a crime.
