Wanted Man Leads Officers on Foot Pursuit

Scott County-Shortly before 1:00 pm on today’s date, troopers received information that Anthony Michael Atkinson, 26 years of age from Jeffersonville, IN, was hiding out at a residence on Jefferson Street in Scottsburg. Anthony Michael Atkinson was on the run from police because he was wanted out of Clark County, IN and Jefferson County, KY on warrants.

When troopers pulled up to the residence they saw Anthony Michael Atkinson playing basketball at the residence. When Anthony Michael Atkinson saw the troopers he ran into the residence. Troopers entered the home after him but Anthony Michael Atkinson was able to escape out of a side door with trooper’s right behind him.

Troopers, officers from the Scottsburg City Police and county deputies chased Anthony Michael Atkinson on foot to South First Street in Scottsburg where he entered a residence uninvited. When officers went into the home after him he fled upstairs in the home and climbed out of an upstairs window where he then jumped off the roof of the home.

When he did this, an officer that had helped surrounded the home, took him into custody. Anthony Michael Atkinson was wanted in Clark County, IN for two counts of Battery and Criminal Mischief. He was wanted out of Jefferson County, KY for Manufacturing Methamphetamine.

Anthony Michael Atkinson now faces the new charges of Resisting Law Enforcement and Residential Entry in Scott County.
