Incident:Petaluma woman arrested for DUI, Driving on a Suspended License and No Bail Warrant.

Summary:

On 04-13-2016 at approximately 1536 hours, a Petaluma Police Department Motor Officer was conducting traffic enforcement in the 1500 block of E Washington St. The officer observed the above listed vehicle travelling eastbound on E Washington St. The driver and solo-occupant of the vehicle, Salinas Cortes a 35 year old female from Petaluma, was observed driving the vehicle without wearing a seatbelt. The officer pulled behind the vehicle and observed both seatbelt straps hanging straight down. Salinas Cortes turned s/b onto Maria Dr. and the officer followed her and initiated a traffic enforcement stop. Salinas Cortes pulled into Greenbriar Circle (Addison Ranch Apartments), parked the vehicle and exited. Salinas Cortes was contacted as she exited her vehicle and provided identification to the officer upon request. A record check indicated Salinas Cortes had an outstanding ‘no bail’ warrant from a DUI in 2007 in Petaluma. Salinas Cortes was additionally found to be operating the vehicle on a suspended license due to the prior DUI and was on probation for the prior DUI. Terms of her probation are to not drive unless licensed and insured, drive with any alcohol in her system and submit to chemical tests.

Salinas Cortes was arrested and transported to the Petaluma Police Department for the outstanding warrant. Salinas Cortes had an odor of alcoholic beverage about her person and admitted to having consumed 3 large beers. Salinas Cortes provided a breath sample into a PAS device which she is required to do based on the terms of her probation. The PAS test indicated her blood alcohol content was .129%BAC, above the legal limit of .08 BAC. Salinas Cortes indicated she did not want to provide any further information without the presence of a lawyer but submitted to an evidentiary breath test which indicated her blood alcohol content was .13%BAC.

Salinas Cortes was later booked into the Sonoma County Jail for the outstanding warrant, driving on a suspended license from a prior DUI, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
