The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

April 11th.


0904 Hours: Officer Nobbe investigated commercial burglary at OK Noodle, 5492 Central Avenue. Entry was made through a rear door. Loss was money and tools.

0904 Hours: Officer Mapes responded to a vehicle burglary at Birch Grove Park. The victim reported that her 2006 Honda Odyssey was broken into while she was walking in the park. Loss is a purse, credit cards, and cash.

1238 Hours: Officer Mapes recovered a vehicle reported stolen from Fremont on Mistflower Avenue. The vehicle was towed pending notification of the registered owner.

1321 Hours: Officer Losier investigated a burglary on the 37000 block of Sycamore Avenue. The Victim reported someone broke into his garage and stole his tools.

1330 Hours: Officer Allum investigated a hit and run accident at the intersection of Cherry St. and Thornton Ave. The victim’s vehicle was struck by a large white 3 axle box truck. There is no suspect information.

1442 Hours: Officer Allum investigated a hit and run accident at the intersection of Spruce St. and Merion Dr. The victim’s vehicle was struck by a copper colored midsized Dodge truck. The victim’s vehicle suffered minor damage.

1504 Hours: Officer Allum investigated a hit and run accident on the 36000 block of Birkshire Place. The suspect’s vehicle struck a light pole and fled. The suspect vehicle is the same midsized Dodge truck involved in the above accident. A possible suspect has been identified and Officer Allum will be following up.

1512 Hours: Officer Musantry accepted the self-surrender of a 37 year old Newark male. The suspect booked at Fremont Jail on his felony warrant.

1654 Hours: Officers were dispatched to Taco Bell, 5684 Thornton Avenue for a disturbance. Officer Mapes contacted a 23 year old female from Newark and arrested her on outstanding warrants from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. She was booked at the Fremont Jail.

1703 Hours: Officer Musantry investigated a vehicle burglary at Chuck E Cheese, 39839 Mowry School Road. The victim’s window was smashed between 1600 and 1700 hours. Loss was a purse, cash, and credit cards.

1749 Hours: Officer Nobbe responded to a car crash at Cedar Blvd and Thornton Ave. Three people suffered minor injuries and were transported to Washington Township Hospital.
