#LASD Parks Bureau Deps Arrest Carjacking/Robbery Suspect, George Washington Carver Park, April 9, 2016 @ParksLASD

On Saturday, April 9, 2016 at approximately 7:20 a.m. in George Washington Carver Park, located in the 1400 block of East 118th Street in the city of Los Angeles, an elderly male Hispanic was carjacked at gunpoint by two male Black suspects.  During the carjacking, one of the suspects produced a dark colored revolver and stole the victim’s 2007 charcoal grey Toyota Camry.  Both suspects fled the scene in the Camry. 

Later at approximately 7:37 a.m., a market in the 500 block of South Indiana Street, in East Los Angeles was robbed at gunpoint by two male Black suspects.  A cash register was stolen and the suspects fled the scene in a grey Toyota Camry. 

At approximately 8:32 a.m. a Parks Bureau sergeant drove upon a recent collision at 111th Street and Evers Avenue in the city of Los Angeles.  The sergeant saw two male blacks running from the vehicle and into a unit located inside a housing project located in the 1500 block of 114th Street in the city of Los Angeles.  A cash register was found in the crashed Toyota Camry.  A large containment was set up around the area, with the assistance of Los Angeles Police Department – South East Division, Century, Compton, Pico Rivera, Norwalk, County Services, Parks Bureau and South Los Angeles Stations, and units from the Special Enforcement Bureau. Two suspects were detained during the investigation.  One of the suspects was positively identified by both victims.

The suspect was arrested and booked at Century Sheriff’s Station for Carjacking, Robbery and felony drug charges.

No firearm was recovered.

The investigation is on-going and there is not additional information available.
