ISP Investigating Double Shooting-UPDATE-Arrest Made

Franklin County-Today, Indiana State Police detectives arrested Thomas E. Logan, age 60, Brookville, Indiana on a Franklin County Circuit Court warrant for murder and other charges related to a shooting that occurred April 2nd in rural Franklin County that resulted in the death of David A. Manz, age 55, Brookville, Indiana.

The incident occurred when the two men allegedly shot each other during an altercation the men had at Logan’s residence on St. Peter’s Road, Brookville, Indiana shortly before 8:00 pm on April 2nd.  As a result of the shooting, Manz died at the scene and Logan was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of his injuries.    

After a nearly week long investigation, Indiana State Police Detective Kip Main requested charges through the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office.  As a result, a Franklin County Circuit Court Warrant was issued for Logan for the following charges.

Murder, Level 1 Felony

Aggravated Battery, Level 3 Felony

Involuntary Manslaughter, Level 5 Felony

Reckless Homicide, Level 5 Felony

Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Level 6 Felony

Possession of Marijuana, Class B Misdemeanor

Logan was taken into custody today following his release from Methodist Hospital.  He was transported to the Franklin County Jail where he was remanded to the custody of the jail staff.  Logan will be held without bond pending his initial hearing in the Franklin County Circuit Court.
