Newark Celebrates National Playground Safety Month – April 2016

We enjoy… playing on the playground with our friends. It expands our creative imagination and transports us to another time or place, plus its good exercise!
So let’s have fun…but be safe!
Parents…
• Make sure your child is dressed properly for playing on the playground or structure. Safety gear such as knee or elbow pads may be in order. And proper shoes for climbing.
• Always make sure you or another responsible person accompanies your child to the playground.
• Look for any debris on the playground or structure that may harm your child.
• Make sure structure is solid and is in good repair.
• Read any signs posted in the area that may have instructions on proper use of the equipment.
Kids…
• Sit, don’t stand on swings.
• Don’t jump from high positions on structures.
• Use the structure properly.
• Always be aware of your surroundings. Make sure your parent or guardian can see you.
• Maintain good citizenship when playing with others. No pushing…take turns.
