UPDATE: Needles/Park Moabi - Pirate Fire April 7th* Mandatory evacuation order lifted for residents only

DATE/TIME: April 6, 2016/5:25 a.m.

INCIDENT: Brush Fire

LOCATION: Vegetation in and around the area of Park Moabi

**UPDATE: Thursday, April 7th / 8:00 a.m.
The mandatory evacuation order has been lifted for Park Moabi residents only. Park Moabi Rd. remains closed and deputies will only allow residents to enter at this time.
The peninsulas remain closed and crews will be in those areas today making repairs to power lines.
Pirate Cove Resort is expected to be open for business on Friday, April 8th.

SUMMARY:
UPDATE: 2:15 p.m.
Park Moabi remains under a mandatory evacuation. Anyone who was evacuated due to the fire is urged to come to the command post located at I40 and Park Moabi Road. Escorts will be provided to allow persons to pick up personal property and/or vehicles. We encourage anyone who may have left behind property on the peninsula's to come to the command post and wait to be escorted to the location to retrieve your property.

There was minor structure damage to property at Pirate Cove.

Boaters should be aware of a down zip line cable that is in the water in the Park Moabi channel.

There have been no reports of any injuries related to the fire.

Deputies will be conducting extra patrol throughout the night in the evacuated areas. Additional personnel from throughout the department have responded to the area to provide additional law enforcement coverage.

On Wednesday, April 6, 2015, at approximately 5:25 a.m., deputies from the Needles Police/Colorado River Sheriff's Station along with fire personnel from County Fire responded to Park Moabi following the report of a fire. The fire started on the Arizona side and winds pushed the fire over to the California side. Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for residents of Park Moabi as well as campers in the area. An emergency evacuation center has been established at the Needles Park & Recreation located at 1111 Bailey Avenue.

San Bernardino County strike teams, air rescue 06, hand crews and a dozer have responded to the incident. According to county fire, approximately 15 acres has burned, winds are 20 mph.
