The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
April 4th.
0729 Hours: Officer Musantry conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle displaying false registration. The 42 year old male Newark driver was cited for driving without a license, no proof of insurance and false registration. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
0928 Hours: Officer Losier investigated a commercial burglary at European Food and Liquor on Mowry Avenue. A suspect with dark clothing, gloves, and a mask shattered the rear window and entered the business. There does not appear to be a loss at this time.
0943 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated a vandalism call at Wendy’s Restaurant located on Newark Boulevard. There are no suspects at this time.
1143 Hours: Officer Mapes located a known 35 year old Newark male on Cedar Boulevard near Lido Boulevard. The suspect was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail on an outstanding warrant for a felon in possession of Tear Gas.
1533 Hours: Officer Nobbe investigated a hit and run collision in the parking lot of Home Depot on Thornton Avenue. The suspect vehicle was described as an early 2000’s gray Honda Accord. The driver appeared to be a dark skinned male in his 60-70’s.
1627 Hours: Officer Losier stopped a vehicle on Thornton Avenue with expired registration. The 45 year old male driver from Fremont was cited for expired registration and an open container of alcohol. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
2021 Hours: Officer Cervantes responded to a family disturbance at a residence on Joaquin Murieta Avenue. A 42 year old female from Newark was arrested on a Felony warrant out of Contra Costa County and booked at Santa Rita Jail.
2338 Hours: Officer Cervantes contacted a 21 year old female transient while investigating an audible alarm sounding at Hulbert Lumber on Cedar Blvd. The suspect had an outstanding Misdemeanor warrant and was booked at Fremont Jail.
0123 Hours: A pedestrian stop by Officer Jackman in front of the Safeway store resulted in the arrest of a 42 year old male from Hayward on a Misdemeanor warrant. The suspect was booked at the Fremont Jail.
April 5th.
0627 Hours: Officer Slater located and arrested a wanted person (Felony Warrant) on the 5500 block of Civic Terrace. The 30-year-old male from Tracy was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
0507 Hours: Officers Cervantes and Norvell responded to a domestic dispute on Walnut Street. A 32 year old Newark male was arrested for being under the influence of Methamphetamine, possession of Methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and battery. He was booked at Fremont Jail.
