On Sunday (4-3-16) around 10:50 PM deputies with Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 863 Henry Jenkins Road, Mooresboro in reference to a subject with a gun.
Deputies arrived on scene and observed two subjects on the front porch (Leslie Bridges and Anthony Smith). Bridges stated that Smith had pulled a gun on her.
Smith retreated back into the residence as officers moved Bridges to safety.
Later Smith appeared in the doorway displaying a small caliber pistol, while making threats to deputies.
For the next several hours, officers tried unsuccessfully to get Smith to come out of the residence.
During this time deputies heard several shots inside the residence. It did not appear that Smith was firing at deputies. Deputies later found evidence where Smith had fired the weapon.
At approximately 3:30 AM Monday (4-4-16,) the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) made entry into the residence and arrested Anthony Brandon Smith, 30 year old, without further incident.
Smith was checked out by Rutherford County E.M.S and then transported to the Rutherford County Detention Facility.
Smith was charged with (1) count Possession of Firearm by Felon and (1) count Communicating Threats. Bond for Smith was set at $35,000.00.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by members of the N. C Highway Patrol, Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, Cliffside Fire Department and Rutherford County E.M.S.
