The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity within our community.
March 31st
1050 Hours: CSO Verandes investigated a theft at 7600 Gateway Blvd. Sometime between 1400 yesterday and 0600 this morning access was gained into the construction site. Numerous tools were taken from a locked construction box.
1431 Hours: Detective Lopez accepted a Citizen’s Arrest from NewPark Mall. A 36 year old Fremont woman was arrested for shoplifting and released on a citation.
1534 Hours: Detective Warren contacted a 22 year old transient male and arrested him on disorderly conduct/drunk in public and drug paraphernalia warrants. The suspect was booked at the Fremont Jail.
1539 Hours: A 22 year old Newark male came into Newark Police Dept. and surrendered himself on an out of county warrant. Officer Knutson issued him a new court date and he was released.
1642 Hours: CSO Parks investigated a vehicle burglary in the 5300 block of Milani Ave. Between 0200 and 1000 the vehicle was broken into and electronic tools were taken.
April 1st
2044 Hours: Officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a residence at 5700 block of Ravenwood Ave. Officer Arroyo contacted 24 year old female and a 41 year old male in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a meth pipe and the male suspect was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
0046 Hours: Officer Mavrakis responded to the intersection of Cedar Blvd and Civic Terrace Ave. on a report of a collision. NPD units located an abandoned vehicle that had damaged a city street sign and crashed into a tree.
April 2nd
0845 Hours: Officer Germano investigated a stolen vehicle report 35000 block of Bettencourt Drive. On April 3, 2016 the victim’s vehicle was located by San Pablo PD and returned to the owner.
1356 Hours: Officer Losier investigated a vehicle burglary on the 37000 block of Sycamore Ave. The Victim reported someone broke into his car and the loss was sunglasses and tools.
1830 Hours: Officer Arroyo documented a theft of an estimated that $1800.00 worth of panties at NewPark Mall. The suspects were described as two Hispanic adults.
April 3rd
0925 Hours: Officer Mapes conducted a warrant service at a residence on the 7000 block of Calais Place. A 23 year old Newark male was located asleep in a bedroom with his 30 year old girlfriend, also from Newark. The male was arrested for his felony warrant and female was arrested for possession of narcotics. The male suspect was booked at Fremont Jail. The female suspect was issued a citation and released.
1155 Hours: Officer Mapes arrested two Newark males, ages 58 & 37 for possession of drug paraphernalia after conducting probation search at a residence in the 3500 block of Millwood Ave. Both were issued a citation and released.
1344 Hours: Officer Nobbe handled a three vehicle collision on the 5600 block of Thornton Ave.
April 4th.
0518 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated a window smash burglary at a fast food restaurant located on the 34000 block of Newark Blvd.
0523 Hours: Officer Simon investigated a window smash burglary at a fast food restaurant located on the 6000 block of Jarvis Ave. The suspect was described as a heavy set Hispanic Male, approximately 250lbs, 5’8”-5’9” tall, and wearing a gray sweatshirt, a white beanie, and golfing gloves.
