High Wind Warning in effect from midnight to noon Sunday, wind gusts of 60 mph possible

The North Brunswick Office of Emergency Management advises residents that a High Wind Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service from midnight tonight to noon Sunday.

Winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts up to 60 mph are forecasted. The highest wind gusts and greatest potential for damaging winds will probably be from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday. Winds are expected to diminish quickly later Sunday afternoon and evening.

A line of thunderstorms may pass through the area between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. tonight which could be accompanied by wind gusts to 50 mph and small hail.

Downed power lines and trees may potentially result in power outages. Some damage is possible to building structures.

In an alert today, PSE&G advised customers that they are preparing for the approaching storm that could bring strong winds across its service area.

They urge customers to prepare and be cautious before, during and after the storm:

- Move and secure lawn furniture, trash cans, hanging plants and anything else that can be picked up by wind and become a projectile.
- Use flashlights for emergency lighting.
- Do not approach or drive over a downed line and do not touch anything that it might be in contact with.
- To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, do not run a generator inside a home or garage.

Also, be sure to charge your cell phones in the event of a power outage.

To report downed wires or power outages, call PSE&G's Customer Service line at 1-800-436-PSEG.
