ISP-Versailles Criminal Patrol Team Serves Warrant, Arrests Three

North Vernon-On March 30th, the Indiana State Police, Versailles Criminal Patrol Team served a search warrant at a Jennings County residence which resulted in the arrest of three people on counterfeiting and drug charges.

The incident began when troopers attempted to serve an arrest warrant for Jeremiah J. Anderson, age 33, North Vernon, Indiana at a residence located on Country Manor Blvd in the Country Squire Lakes housing addition near North Vernon.  While at the residence, troopers located Anderson and another man, Vern E. Purtlebaugh, age 33, Columbus, Indiana hiding in a crawl space under the residence.  While still at the house, troopers were given information that Purtlebaugh and Anderson had just passed counterfeit money to a taxi driver that had given the men a ride.

Trooper Rick Hewitt then obtained a search warrant for the residence.  During a search, troopers located suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, additional counterfeit money, along with printers and copiers used for the production of counterfeit money. 

Anderson and Purtlebaugh along with Bryttany M. Wooten, age 30, North Vernon, Indiana were all arrested and jailed in the Jennings County Jail.

All three faces charges of counterfeiting, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Purtlebaugh faces an additional charge of visiting a common nuisance.  Anderson faces an additional charge of maintaining a common nuisance.  He was also arrested on the original arrest warrant for residential entry.  Wooten was additionally charged with harboring a fugitive and maintaining a common nuisance.
