Lieutenant Steve Brooks, Public Information Officer

On March 29, 2016 at approximately 7:40 pm, deputies responded to a reported residential burglary in the 9000 block of Venturi Drive in Cobb. The owners of the residence had interrupted the burglary when they arrived home.

Upon their arrival the deputies contacted the homeowners, who said they were able to obtain the license plate number of the vehicle as it left the residence. They were also able to take photographs of the vehicle with a cell phone and told deputies that the vehicle was occupied by two female subjects.

The homeowners said their residence was partially damaged in the Valley Fire and they are currently staying at another location. The exterior of the home obtained significant damage, but the interior and contents of their home were not damaged. They noticed that their exterior door had been forced open and several items were missing from inside the residence. It also appeared that every room inside the residence had been rummaged through. The homeowners also noticed their garage door had been kicked open and several large items were missing, which included a hot tub.

The deputies reviewed the pictures taken by the homeowners of the suspect vehicle leaving the property. They were able to see the license plate of the vehicle and noticed the vehicle had some damage to the front bumper. They were also able to see the two female subjects inside the vehicle.

Deputies conducted a search of the area and located the suspect vehicle on Highway 175 in Cobb. They conducted an enforcement stop and contacted the solo occupant of the vehicle, who was identified as 66 year old Yvette Trapp of Clearlake Oaks. Trapp told the deputies that she had gone to the residence with a friend to take property from the home. She had obtained information that the house was in foreclosure and that a real estate had told a friend of hers that all of the property inside the residence needed to be cleared out. She told the deputies that all of the property she had taken from the residence was still in her vehicle.

The deputies searched the vehicle and retrieved several items which were stolen from the residence. Yvette Trapp was arrested for burglary, possession of stolen property and conspiracy. She was transported to the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility and booked. This investigation is ongoing as deputies attempt to locate additional property taken from the residence.
